The Campaign Palace, Sydney has put to air its first commercial for 3, the account won from The Moult Agency late last year. The spot was created by Yanni Pounartzis and Dean Hunt, and directed by Rey Carlson from Revolver.

Was that all compiled from stock clips?Truly horrible execution, who directed (some?) of this?The art direction is really cheesy and uncrafted where as the idea could have come out alright if approached correctly.A real shame, I thought The Palace would have taken the ball and run with it after winning 3.
After a few agencies and a few pitches, the 3 ball is quite clearly made of shit, no matter where you try to take it and run. It’s a business of cost effective mediocrity not creative ambition. Which is also clearly how their pitches are decided. Congrats “Palace”

A Telstra plot? Bloody brilliant. Telstra pays Y&R Brands to arrange for The Palace to win the 3 business (little or no fee to 3 for the first year does the trick, the difference paid by Telstra). The Palace are ordered to do something that looks clever (to the client who have no idea) but is really crap, which leads to 3 going broke in Australia. I love it, and I agree, Titanium for sure. How 3 could believe that they are no conflict with Telstra within the same agency group defies belief.
My 5 year old liked the pretty pictures. She also likes dogs and there are two in the ad. She hated the music and thought the man talking sounded like one of the men that Daddy tells her to avoid. She thinks the ad is for three year olds.

At least the palace is putting their stuff out there to be critiqued. the place is staffed by multi award winning people who know the difference between a good ad and a bad one. It’s not that bad! I don’t mind it at all, its not ground breaking, but its watchable and that’s all that matters. Afterall, most of you adcunts spend more time putting shit up your noses, or rimming your boss, that you do putting effort into your creative work.
Let the punters decide, but my guess is we won’t be seeing much more of this tripe after a couple of weeks.
