Telecom New Zealand is promoting its range of 3G services in a campaign that includes a series of commercials which have just gone to air. In each spot Telecom encourages consumers to start using – and abusing – the various functions of their mobile phones. The TVCs were created by Steve Back, Dave Bowman, Matty Burton and Mike O’Sullivan and directed by Glenn Elliott @ Flying Start Pictures.

The first spot with the girl telling her boy not to show anybody is remarkably similar to an mpeg on Kontraband.com from a year ago, infact they all seem very familiar. But you could argue that that is whats great about this campaign you don’t even have to do any thinking now you just wait for new funny virals to come around and copy them.
Where exactly have we seen this strategy dickweed? Bullshit! These are TVC’s for New Zealand’s biggest telco. That’s a big call for Telecom. Sure, they’re demonstration ads, but they’re pretty fresh. And as for that well worn phrase you use, ‘borrowed interest’. What exactly does that mean? I know what it means. You’re a cynical prick who probably works at Lowe in Auckland and does shite illustration-led-no-idea-bollocks for Vodafone, that’s what it means. Ah, that feels better.
I’ve seen one of two of those before – but never in ads.Actually the slideshow one I’ve never seen executed like that.I can safely say I’ve never seen a Batman suit on a dog either.So the ads are old.
