A PUNTER SPOOFS DRAFT FCB MELBOURNE'S HONDA CRV SPOT

You know you're doing something right when the public go to the trouble of remaking your ad. Well, one has done just that, remaking the Honda CR-V spot, which has garnered praise from many in the industry (twice picked in CB Creative Circle this issue), yet quite inexplicably failed to even get on the shortlist at MADC.
Here's the original, via Draft FCB, Melbourne....

If you were to be cynical about it, you'd think the agency made it, or encouraged someone to make it, so they could get just this kind on "uder generated content" credibility? The first and only comment in the youtube channel is:There's a challenge. Can anyone do a better copy that this? Hmmmm. That's a try hard comment.

yeah, nice ad, but an award winning ad, come on, get your hand off it.the Kids ad was 593,000 dollars cheaper and was just as much fun.the muisc saved it.award worthy...hahahhahahahhahhahahaahaaaaa.thats funny.

yet I still dont get it, dude strips clothes off, jumps into car and drives off...mmmmok Im a dummy.cool muisc track.award worthy, I dont think so.

okay, so one kid reshoots the spot and you hail it a success.

are we saying things are award worthy, just because the client didn't get their filthy maulers all over it?award the idea.not the music and post.

10.43, I believe that you award the idea AND the execution together. Obviously if the idea's not up to scratch, no amount of craft is going to save it. But a ripping idea ballsed up in production shouldn't win anything either. That's probably what you meant anyway. And no, I don't think the Honda idea is strong enough to warrant being awarded. Despite the care and attention it received.
