BOOKER DEPARTS BMF

BOOKER.jpgSenior art director Grant Booker has departed BMF. The highly respected creative, who was the driving force behind the recent Newspaper Works campaign and Dairy Farmers 100% TVC, will now be looking for new opportunities.
Says BMF ECD Warren Brown: "He's a rare advertising gem and I'm sure he'll be adding sparkle to another creative department."

Hey, here's an idea: why doesn't he start a restaurant?

A lot of curious decisions are made at executive level by agencies every day but this one takes the cake. Whoever's responsible for not talking Grant Booker into staying on will live to regret it. I fear it might be downhill for BMF from now on.

Are we to read this as another senior guy given the shove?

Come back to NZ Booker. The agencies are far more creative than you'd be used to over there.

Great work Booker.

No doubt you'll be snapped up by a good agency right away.

Love that Foxtel campaign on the back of today's B&T too.

No disrespect, dude but the book looks a bit dated. Just honest opinion. It's online, after all....

I've just finsihed lunch with Booker and he seems quite happy.

Collateral damage and more to come in the grey area this year.

Whoever (8.08) wrote the comment on the book looking a "bit dated" needs a bit of bitch slap. I don't think the purpose of this posting was for people to make judgments about the mans work.

I assume the book was posted on the site so that those looking for an Art Director could take a look at Mr Bookers work. If interested they would then possibly contact him. I would assume if they didn't like it they wouldn't.

More so, I've worked with Grant as a director and his approach to the film we worked together on certainly wasn't dated.

Nor the other television work he's produced since then on other projects.

Best of luck Grant. Glad you're happy.

(8.08) Hey Dude, since when has great art direction been "dated" . Love to see your "contemporary" work and let us be the judge.

If you look at the US and the UK you'll notice that there's way more 'mature creatives' writing ads and winning D&AD and one shows. People like Booker and Putnam are still working and doing great work because they're great, curious and inspired creatives not dead wood.
Booker is a true legend. I worked with him at BMF a few years ago now. For an old bloke, he's as keen as any young muppet. He's got the passion (which is what got him to BMF in the first place and kept him there for so long). Warren doesn't hire the old boys and he doesn't hire mates. So 8.08, great knower of all things, I suggest you shut your pie hole and get back in your box. I'm 32 and I know and love this industry and have enough respect for the people that have helped build it. And still keep building it.
Booker... I have nothing but respect for you mate. You're a gentleman and a true talent.
Lynchy, sorry mate, but you should have a bit more respect for Booker than to be posting comments from ignorant pricks.

Onward and upward Booker.

p.s. 8.08... We'll see you in 30 years time living off your daddy's inheritance.

At some point there has to be a trophy given for the most uncool thing written on the blog. Will 8.08 kindly come to the podium and collect that trophy please.

What a pig.

Team crow-peck on you.

I wonder if booker's departure has anything to do with the photon group takeover? Someone's trying to cut a few costs to make sure they get a bigger cheque when the takeover is complete I reckon...sad that a top bloke has been given the chop.

I can't imagine that many of those posting comments about Booker have ever worked with him. He is one of the hardest working and conscientious blokes in advertising. He'll stick with a job, a pitch, a client an employer or a mate to the last breath. He will still be employable at the best agencies when some of those commenting are waiting tables at backpacker's bars in Bondi.

What is going with BMF??? Apparently the 2 top planners have now departed!

8.08 your a #@$ing ediot.
See how you like it in a few years. You may be winning a few awards now but wait until your use by date is up and the agency gets rid of you. Not that you can't do it still when your older but I think this 'Younger the better ' fallacy is propagated by a lot of managers because younger is cheaper and who cares if they don't have the experience, take twice as long to crack it or bugger up the production, 'we'll just bill the client the extra time'.
