AWARD SCHOOL DISCUSSION GROUP

A blogger writes......
could campaign brief perhaps keep a page open to discuss AWARD School, its function and where the significant revenue it generates goes to - who owns the school etc - it's a topic that has generated a healthy debate here but the time limit cuts short any possible outcome - anything that operates under the AWARD non profit banner needs to be transparent in its operation yet to date this has not been the case. Thanks CB.

Well, the money certainly doesn't go to the lecturers or tutors....

Are you suggesting, 1.26, that money SHOULD go to lecturers and tutors? The lecturers and tutors who are predominantly on 6-figure salaries, thanks in no small part to the very same AWARD School at which they're now lecturing and/or tutoring?

Yes, AWARD School is a money-making operation. And yes, questions should be asked regarding where the money is ending up.

But to suggest that some dollars should go to guys (and the very few girls) who are already very, very well paid is thoroughly ridiculous!

(A better idea, since you ask, might be to subsidise adland juniors who come from circumstances where they can't afford to live on the paltry salaries they start on, and who don't have Mummy and Daddy's house and trust fund to fall back on.)

tutoring at AWARD school is a pretty thankless gig. To do it properly requires a decent time investment, and to be honest is usually the last thing you want to be doing at the end of the day on a Tuesday or whenever.

I've done it three times, I'll probably do it again, but it's an effort.

Tutors shouldn't be paid, but I reckon a little recognition wouldn't go astray. Maybe even free AWARD membership for a year or something... that wouldn't kill AWARD, would it?

Actually... how about 1% of any of your student's salary if they go on to make ECD one day?

Well somebody must be doing very well out of AWARD and it clearly isn't the members or the AWARD school students.

The money goes to AWARD so they can put on events and fly jurors and speakers in through the year. also to pay the salaries of the people that keep AWARD going.... anyone that thinks someone is getting secretly rich here is delusional.

I've tutored AWARD 3 or 4 times now.
You do get free AWARD membership and an annual.
Thats enough for me.
I think helping others out in the same way that we were helped should give enough satisfaction on top of that.

considering the cost of other courses to get into other industries AWARD is pretty damn cheap for a bloody good course.

Like most advertising businesses, they are top-heavy with profits going towards flying judges to give credibility to the event.
