'Spikes'?, or is it 'The Spikes'?
OK, I'm going to show my total ignorance here, but is this another important show on the circuit?
If so, shouldn't it be added to the Essential Links area of this site from now on?
Call me a cynic, but it seems that there's always another show crying out for us to spend our hard earned 'bottom line dollars' on.
So many shows, so little time.......

I went to the Spikes 2 years ago.

Had a ball, great surf, a small crowd of some of the best creatives from Asia, America and England.

And because it's Bali, everyone is really relax and you get to actual know people.

And the hotels there are luxury.

Great fun.

Not another Award show - never heard of this one. What's the point in entering the Spikes!!! Not exactly going to start the job offers rolling in. And they're tough - WWF only got Bronze!

Blame the Gunn Report.

My understanding is the Spikes count towards it, which is why we all have to give a shit. Just like another one I heard of last week for the first time, the Golden Award of Montreux. What the ... ?????

The Spikes was the biggest regional award show for 10-15 years until Adfest emerged. But it seems the novelty of "Girly bars by the sea" is wearing off. Useful if you want to work in Asia, otherwise...

Wouldn't want to be buying a drink at the after-party.

How much money is DDB pissing away at every awards show known to man this year? I'm not knocking there work, just there need for approval. If you win at
cannes, clio, one show, d&ad that is all that matters. And we wonder why clients think there agencies only really care about awards.
