Looks more serious than some of the other episodes but that's a good thing I think.

Presumably, all they will be able to talk about is JWT, the most creative agency of all time.

Anonymous said:

Mate it was recorded before JWT was the most creative agency of all time...last week i think.

they won't be u twat. the episodes are not live.

Fucking Hell!!!

6:50PM & 6:51PM (assuming you are not the same person who couldn't cram all there anger into one post).

It was a fucking joke.

Idiot(s).

Yawn. What a boring episode. The trafficking viral was good, but seriously the show has lost its appeal after just five episodes. What's even more pathetic is that it's all just TV. The most interesting stuff has been Droga's Ecko (for those who haven't seen it) and tonights sex traffic viral. From an outsider looking in, they must think advetrising its a crock of shit.

The idea of finding out what had happened to the guy on House was more compelling than watching Gruen this week. It is done now.

11.02. Before you call people idiot(s) - you should understand in what context to use there and their.
Examples.

There - Look at that person over there. Or. There goes someone with appalling grammar.

Their - Their attitude sucks.

I hope you are not a copywriter.

1.40 am - from the outside looking in?

Try inside looking in.

Will Anderson, could take him or leave him.

Anonymous said:

WELL, 1.40, LET'S BE HONEST, IT GENERALLY IS A LOAD OF SHIT.

Anonymous said:

1:40 AM - it is.

I like the show. But how about replacing Tod Sampson with someone from the public. I want to know what the public thinks of these ads. Not someone who thinks about it so much.

Hey 11:52...what did happen to the guy on House? I had to go and do the dishes and I missed it. Was it his wife? I bet it was his wife. She was hiding stuff up her bits wasn't she? You could tell she was a bitch form the start.

Gruen is kind of torture to watch when you work in advertising. But it's obviously good viewing as it's rating really well. The show is not a trademag it's general viewing and it works in that market.

Anonymous said:

1:07 - take him.

Every word from his mouth is like chewing razor blades.

Anonymous said:

their their, 11:52AM.

I presume you occupy the glamorous role of an agency proofreader.

Anonymous said:

3.29:

The wife did it. She actually poisoned him with small amounts of gold. Which sounds even more 'advertising' than the Gruen Transfer.

Plot spoiler below:

Thanks 11:52/11:52, I knew she was too good to be true. "Oh honey, I just invited my college room mate home for a threesome. Is that ok?" Bitch.

House is way better TV than Gruen.

Although I reckon Todd would make a great TV doctor.

BTW, is it mandatory that every agency that pitches their idea has to have an endline with a profanity in it?

Anonymous said:

6.44...I am certainly not a proof reader...i just think that the impact of barbed comments is compromised when the writer cannot use their and there correctly. Isn't that something that creatives pick up suits on for sport?

And if ad people are the superior race (as one would believe after reading this blog) then we should be on our game....

Love and kisses 11.52

I wish we had creatives on there with a real opinion. Like Furballs. None of this pussy 'oh I work for toyota so I'm going to piss in my own pocket for a while' shit, someone who understands the practice - not the theory of advertising.

And I'm sick of these guys slagging the better ads we do. Let's raise the bar and make our industry more respected but slag anything that tries remotely above visual wallpaper.

One good point is I've earnt more respect from the general public about my job because I tell them I have to deal with tosspots like these guys every day.

And one more thing. Any suit / strategic planner / nob that says 'this is my ad' should be lined up in Saatchi's hallway and shot. Did you do that ad? No, you wrote the brief and then got in the way. We know. We were there.

todd sampson is HOT!

10:40 (or 11.52)

You've used '...' thrice in 66 words or so. Which suggests that while you mightn't be a proof reader, you ain't no writer either.

Mr 11:52,

Your references to there and their are bereft of the necessary quotation marks as depicted in this incorrect sentence.

I've gone off House. The whole thing is too predictable now and House is just too self righteous and unlikeable to warrant my attention.

The whole medical team busts it's arse, cops abuse and discouragement from House, and then they have to just content themselves with having 'learnt something' when House compiles all THEIR ideas and research to save the day and take the kudos.

I prefer Gruen because it's Australian. I totally respect the contributions of the frustrated creatives who have caned this show so far - and I can absolutely understand where your disquiet comes from. However, in the same way that Spicks and Specks is not a serious music info and discussion forum, Gruen (in my opinion) is not intended to be a serious and academic dissection of an industrial sector. A comedian hosts the thing. Surely this is sufficient indication of the show's MO. Again, it's Australian. It really is sobering how quickly we seek to sink the boots in to our artistic and creative comrades in arms.

On the subject of advertising, Todd Sampson has surely mounted the most successful advertising campaign of his career - that of promoting himself. Todd, the offices at LB are so the wrong side of the camera for you. Any casting director worth their salt should be eyeing you off very closely. Plenty of viewers do I'm sure.

: )

Tardis Girl, I've never been able to watch House for the same reason I rejected Stuart Little: Hugh Lawrie is a Pom, and I just don't buy the fake American accent. He was piss funny in the various permutations of Blackadder, but his character in House is...um... unconvincing.

Can't watch Russell Crowe playing an American either. Same reason.

Just how many of you just watch Gruen for a perv on Todd?
Seems like quite a few of the people on this site.
How many of you knew he was CEO of Leo Burnett before this program, I wonder?
