BULLDOZER TAKES EQUITY STAKE IN SNOWSPORTS INTERACTIVE GLOBAL LAUNCH

flaik one.jpgSydney start-up Bulldozer has been awarded the global launch for Flaik, a GPS unit for skiers and boarders that has just won the top prize at the 2008 Australian International Design Award.
Based in North America and Australia Flaik (www.Flaik.com) is the world’s first real time tracking device for the ski industry and is currently being used and trailed in prestigious resorts such as Whistler, Steamboat and Aspen. It records all your performance statistics, see on a map where you’ve been and keep track of where users are – great for parents.
Ex-Australian Ski Team member and Bulldozer founder Andy McKeon has also joined the board of directors and brings with him valuable knowledge of the ski and tourist mindset.
Bulldozer has forgone the usual monthly retainer, opting for an equity share in the company. A model that is increasingly common for agencies such as Crispin Porter + Boguski and Anomaly in the USA where agency founder McKeon worked for the last decade.
"We are putting it on the line and have some skin in the game. The future success of Flaik and Bulldozer are now inextricably linked," enthuses McKeon.
Bulldozer got involved early in the strategic positioning of the project and changed the company's focus from individual skiers to bulk purchasers like resorts, ski schools and tour groups. The new strategy has met with immediate results with soon-to-be-named prestigious American resort currently negotiating to take on 1800 Flaiks.
Flaik Chairman Michael Bosscher said he was drawn to Bulldozer because they provided more than just typical ad solutions: “We haven’t even spoken about ads yet. They helped us with the up stream thinking. How to position and maximize our revenue models. Now the sales are happening next up is PR, online, trade shows before we even get to the more traditional ad stuff."
“This is what gets us excited," says new Bulldozer MD Caroline McLaughlin. “Solving real business issues. It doesn’t hurt that lift tickets are now tax deductible too!"

Good luck to him.

It sounds as though he's putting a couple of bucks in a mate's business.

Why is it that whenever someone does something remotely interesting in terms of their business model they always have to chuck in a reference to CP&B, D5 or some other hotshot shop?

"I'm being really creative - by copying these really famous guys who copied no-one!"

Good to see this blog covering something different.

To 9.07 - At least these guys are doing something no-other agency has yet bothered to do here.

Mmmmm.... figures.

You are never lost if you don't care where you are - is'nt that why you go backcountry anyway?

Skin in the game. Code for "we're doing it for free" oh and for free reign.

Big market though.

Hey 9:07am...you are a jerk.

A reference is simply a reference, get a grip asshole. It simply explains what many are doing. CP+B and D5 are what they are, but they are not re-inventing wheels genius. Honeyshed? Hello Einstein...ever heard of the Home Shopping Network? D5 just took it to another platform. Copied no-one? You must be fucking kicking me. We exist in a business that copies. We invented recycling way before environmentalists. You need to live outside of that little Southern Hemisphere bubble you live in. Have you ever worked at CP+B? No, I didn't think so. Well I have. So kiss my ass.

By the way, your beloved CP+B managed to win and lose Nike in 13mths. Great achievement. And I have to be honest, apart from initiative work for Ecko and charity/pro-bono work for Unicef and others, the rest of us are waiting to see some real gems from D5. I am sure they are more than capable of delivering, but we are all waiting with baited breath. They have the cool FEIT sneaker brand on their site as a client, they have had for a very long time and all it says is "Coming Soon", show us the money D5.

I notice you never commented on Anomaly. Is that because your Antipodean (look it up in a dictionary) small brain has no idea about what they are doing? The industry is changing and small minded pricks like you have no future in it. Many agencies worldwide, especially here in the US, are creating new ways of generating revenue (that is the stuff they use to pay useless morons like you), they are also working on ways to own some IP from ideas (again, do some research, I'm sure you have no fucking idea what IP is).

Please go and masturbate over your latest scam ad and dream of that interview at D5 or CP+B.

And, no offense to Australia, but have you noticed no international indie hot shops open up there...no CP+B, no W+K, no Mother, none. Maybe it's due to idiots like you. Yes, D5 is there, but even Droga had grim doubts about doing it due to the kind of attitude you show. How do I know that? Well he made it public in his interview in AdNews (I am assuming you can read).

Instead of lambasting (again, look it up) people and their forward thinking why don't you do something yourself?

So glad I got that off my chest.

Get your hand off it 9.07... Are you saying these ad guys are the first to introduce this business model? It's been around for years and in other industries too. Try getting out of your bubble ad geek.

Good on him. Save the knocking for the ads vultures

Passion is good except when you miss the point. And what a long point it was.

I was not talking up CP&B, D5 or anyone else.

I was pointing out that I am tired of people constantly using those agencies as reference points to explain what they are doing. If you are experimenting with a new business model or trying to secure a new revenue stream, just go ahead and do it. Stop trying to make yourself sound like a super sexy genius by name dropping.

And the numerous personal attacks laced throughout your diatribe are completely and utterly basis.

I suggest you look up the word Cockhead!

11:55 was correct, 2:58.

I suggest you look up the word Sycophant.

Why would I look up the word sycophant?

How can I be a sycophant when no-one knows who I am you fool.
