STEVE COLL TO AMV BBDO, LONDON

STEPHEN-COLL.jpgSteve Coll, writer and creative group head at Leo Burnett, Sydney, is leaving the agency and moving to AMV BBDO, London.
Coll told CB: "Leo's is an agency with a unique ethos and atmosphere, and I'm sad to be leaving. It's been a good, enjoyable few years at Burnett's, writing stuff like the Inner Child for Maccas and Bundy 'Only in Australia' for the lads at Diageo. I've especially enjoyed working with Andy and Jay over the last few months. Those two guys have brought an immense amount of new talent and passion into the department, so I wish them, and everyone else, the very best of luck for the future."
During his three years at Burnett's, Coll has been awarded at Cannes, The One Show, Clio and AWARD.
Says Leo Burnett joint ECD's, Andy DiLallo and Jay Benjamin: "We're bummed to see someone of Steve's calibre go but equally pleased to see him get the chance to chase something he has been after for a long time. We wish him the best and hope one day he decides to come back to Australia."

4.11. He's Irish

Steve's a good bloke, but I BET he cut off the crappy bear at the end of his Bundy ad before showing the boys of AMV.

'Cos I sure as hell didn't see it when I judged it.

Nice guy... Right to the end.

Such a nice guy and a great talent. Good luck Steve. I'm sure you'll go really well over there.

Nice one, out of the pond.

apart from 4.11, blatantly just smashing the keyboard in self excitement to type something 'witty', i love the positivity on this so far...

Good on ya our lad.

You'll kill it over there. You're a hardworking, ambitious bugger - and you've managed to get out some lovely work - real work too.

Proves the point that scamming doesn't always land you a plum position in London. Real work for real clients with real ideas does.

Say hello to Jonesey for me too.

That had fuck all to do with Steve Coll.

Well done Steve. Enjoy yourself - Daz

When I first had the pleasure of writing to Todd ‘n bumping into him @ Ad News Awards, I had said that, as a punter, Inner Child had been an earth moving campaign for me. It was like my Truman Show of the ad break and something I thought could never happen with such a brand. It changed my perceptions and made me try new product at breakfast and lunch times. I still think about that campaign and often hear its music and see it in my head. It was genius, I think. If you had a lot to do with it, then AMV BBDO in London are very lucky to have you. THE BEST OF BRITISH 2U.

love the way TBWA paris is doing anti-chinese ads while TBWA Beijing is doing pro-chinese adsthat article is quite interesting.

it just shows how much this industry can suck balls!

sorry, steve, to be jumping in on your article like that. enjoy your new job.

Perfect words for a perfect guy.

Wow Chris that was impressive.

Shame Singo's can't deliver on KFC as good as Leo's with Maccas as you'd definitely be smashing a spicy zinger fillet combo for breakfast tomorrow...forsure!

Forgive me jumping on my soapbox, but If 7.32 is in a position strong enough to be judging awards, and is not making a nasty comment (which he isn't), shouldn't he therefore be in a position to give his name?

It would add gravitas to his point, which I am sure is true.

Anonymous said:

doddsy, he doesn't need to do that.

just ask anyone who viewed the film entries at cannes (accessible to all, not just judges). The bear wasn't there. saw it (or didn't see it) with my own eyes.

I don't blame him though - I'd be getting rid of it too. Anyway, dropping off the bear was the least of Australia's scams at cannes this year.

My kiwi friends tell me the bear failed to make an appearance in Cannes judging as well.

I thought somebody else actually came up with the inner child spot? Wasn't there a legal thingy about it?

Anonymous said:

Well done our lad. Let us know when you're having drinks.

10.13...ur are spot on... Idea came out of Patts years ago.

I guess this shit happens all the time.

Is it just me or does Leo's have a revolving door in their creative department?

Anonymous said:

Maybe I 'm a marxist, but i always thought the inner child ads inadvertently reinforced the McDonalds "hook 'em while they're young" ethos which, to my mind, is kind of creepy. same with that older ad where the little kid is on a swing and smiles everytime he gets high enough to see the McDonalds logo.

What is it with the Bundy bear? He always gets lost between the agency and award judging. Enlighten us Leo's.

Anonymous said:

I don't know 2.46, did you get sacked from Leo's? If so, maybe it is just you then.

Anonymous said:

Steve you're an amazing guy. Thanks for making us all proud with your cool work. Real work that actually get played on real media.
