How long have we been talking about change in this industry? Wouldn't it be nice if we actually moved on from talking about it? I know that a few great campaigns and maybe one or two agencies actually have, but as an industry... we're all still "lovin our maccas moments" and slotting a half-funny little joke into the end of a boring 30sec tv spot or appallingly bad print ad.

I'm so sick of hearing our own bullshit and seeing no evidence to support it. Sorry if this comment doesn't quite match up with the post, but it just vexes me a bit.

markets have shifted from the y generation to the 'i think people actually give a shit which hand i wipe my ass with' generation and unfortunately brands have the same ignorance as well.

there are millions of tweets. millions of youtube videos. but only a handful of successful ones.

Microblogging apps have an early adoption from middle-aged demographics. 25-54 year olds are driving Twitter and other trends and 18-54 year olds worldwide stopped thinking about Cannes Lions and trad ads yonks ago! So, with respect, you’re all having anonymous arguments amongst yourselves on this. MySpace and Facebook social networking sites have similarly experienced a surge in older users, though, those increases were after younger users set the pace. According to Ken Radio, Twitter is a rare example of older people embracing a new web technology at such an early stage. Twitter’s popularity among older users may be linked to increasing comfort with the internet and social media as well as its perceived usefulness in business.
