Australia has triumphed over New Zealand at thisyear’s Cannes Lions, taking home 45 Lions compared to New Zealand’s 21. The result is a big jump on last year and a continuation ofAussie success, following on from last year’s tally of 24 for Australia to NewZealand’s 21.

In a highly successful year for Australia the obvioushighlight was the record-breaking three Grand Prix awarded to CumminsNitro, Brisbane’s’Best Job in the World’ campaign.

Australia walked away with three Grand Prix, 13 Gold, 7 Silver, and 19 Bronze. The three other PR Lions, other than the Grand Prix, were not given a colour.

Based on a point system of numbers of Lions won, DDB Brasil Sao Paulo was named advertising agency of the year, with AlmapBBDO Paulo and DDB & Co Istanbul in second and third.

Network of the year was awarded to BBDO, followed by DDB in second spot, Leo Burnett third, Ogilvy & Mather fourth and TBWA fifth.

The number of delegates at the 56th International Advertising Festival was down by 40% this year, but was still the fifth largest in its history in terms of numbers.
