While some post shops close shop, The Lab Sydney expands its colour grading offer

Lewis Pullen1.jpgIn the wake of recent company closures in the post production industry The Lab Sydney today gave details of its strongest commitment yet to colour grading in Australia.

The Lab's General Manager Lewis Pullen (pictured) said, "We are continuing to do what we've always done and commit to the Australian colour grading industry for the long term. Where other companies are cutting back or closing we are actually investing. We have been in the business for many years and are not going anywhere. We have just completed a full upgrade of our two Baselight systems to version 4.1 which now gives these excellent grading desks even more power and functionality. We are also investing in the next generation of colour grading systems and will be making a big announcement on that soon. The initial testing is like nothing people have seen before - it's mind blowing."

The Lab has also been appointed as the beta testing site for FilmLight the innovative technology leader behind the award winning Baselight desks and Northlight 2 scanning system.

Pullen continued, "The good news for the market is that The Lab can now deliver any workflow solution tailored to exact requirements. Our multi-million dollar DI set up compliments our extensive linear grading capabilities, with Spirit, C-Reality and da Vinci grading desks giving clients more creative options than any other facility in Sydney."

According to Pullen the single most important factor in The Lab's future success is its highly experienced team of Senior Colourists. He concluded, "Without a doubt it's our mix of local and international creative talent that sets us apart from others. Our team of Marcus Timpson (Nurofen, Ned Kelly; Hutchinson, No Fear; Audi TTS; Clear, Bubbles), Dwaine Hyde (Bonds Kaleidoscope; Hubba Bubba; KFC, Hot Rods) and Vincent Taylor (Austar; Vics Beatbox; Panadol; PK, 'Close Talker') are three of the best in the country with many years of top flight grading experience. They are supported by a highly capable team of producers, IT specialists and engineers all of whom are committed to achieving the best possible results within their craft. Over the next few weeks we are inviting directors, DOPs, production companies, agency creatives, Heads of TV and writers to come in, meet the team and discuss what we can creatively offer them now and in the future."

Recently completed projects at include Underbelly - A Tale of Two Cities, Air Wick's Not So Empty Next TVC and the Two Fists One Heart movie.

And I thought they closed cause they were so good they got bought! I think a good time to purchase some cheap 'airfares' across the ditch and check out a couple of multi-million dollar Di set-ups' already kicking arse in the TVC and Hollywood market....

Think about it 11:51, if you don't support your local industry, maybe one day it will be your job on the line!

9:33 (L) - you really didn't read 11:51's posting did you ?. Did you just read your own article a couple oif times ? Did ya like it ?

11:51's posting was well crafted and contained no 1980's "Mind Blowing" lines...But for your next press release, you could use " Only limited by your imagination"...please...keep it.... it's yours.

11:51's posting also cleverly contained reference to your old profession within the airline industry which is the background that lead to your role in this creative industry.

Sure it was subtle......

Lewis, I don't think now is the time to make comments like "Where other companies are cutting back or closing". In most cases the companies that are cutting back or worst closing have little control over their situation but rather victims of a bigger picture. Not all companies have the backing of a very deep pocketed financier.
Hmmmm...

It doesn't really matter as the best colourist in Australia is and has always been in Melbourne, the sister company but none the less in Melbourne.
