Droga5 adds more planning firepower with raids on Three Drunk Monkeys and Leo Burnett

Toby Harrison.jpgKat Wong.jpgDroga5, Sydney has made two new appointments to its planning department in a restructure that sees Toby Harrison (far left) and Katrina Wong (left) join from Three Drunk Monkeys and Leo Burnett respectively, with Fabio Buresti promoted to planning director.

“Toby and Katrina are intelligent people who have fresh and intuitiveapproaches to developing strategies. Toby has dabbled in everythingfrom theology to sports reporting and entertainment production, and Katspent 12 years training to become a professional ballerina, so theyboth come from unusual backgrounds. It’s something we believe in atDroga5 – the best planners are first and foremost genuinely interestingpeople, not just advertising people,” says Sudeep Gohil, partner andstrategy director at Droga5.

“We are well known for our creative prowess at Droga5, but our approachto planning has been a key driver to our new business growth in recentmonths and Fabio has been a big part of that. From our perspectiveplanning and strategy should be joined at the hip – from where we sitit definitely delivers the best results,” says Gohil.

At Three Drunk Monkeys, Harrison established the online division ofNAB, UBank, and worked across Fox Sports, The Cancer Council and theBBC. He moved to Australia in 2004 from the UK with multiple skeletalfractures from an unfulfilled rugby career, joining BMF to work onAUSTAR, Playstation and several Government projects.

Wong joined Leo Burnett, Sydney in 2007 after making the hard decisionnot to pursue a career with the Australian Ballet. In her agency lifeshe has worked with clients including Diageo, Canon, Fairfax Digital,Caltex, Mission Australia and World Wildlife Fund and was an integralpart of the team that launched this year’s WWF ‘Vote Earth’ campaign,which was recognized as #8 of the top campaigns at Cannes 2009 acrossall media.
