Lock up your junior creatives - MADC's Creative Raw starts soon

The time has come again for Melbourne's freshest creative talent to be unveiled and showcased in the Melbourne Advertising and Design Club (MADC) Creative RAW competition sponsored by The Age.
In a genuine coup, Creative RAW has secured Russel Howcroft, chairman and managing director of George Patterson Y&R, and Gruen Transfer regular, as chairman of judges.
For the fourth year running the MADC, in conjunction with The Age, is hosting Creative RAW, a competition that fosters Melbourne's young creative talent, and encourages innovative use of the newspaper medium.
The full-day competition, which is to be held on Friday 6 November, highlights the MADC's commitment to supporting junior creatives and encouraging new blood into the advertising industry through a range of initiatives.

Creative RAW is the perfect platform for upcoming advertising juniors to showcase their skills and proficiencies to the top names in the creative industry and create a campaign that will be published in The Age.

It is also an opportunity for Melbourne advertising agencies to put forward a team for the competition and give their juniors practical hands-on experience with a live client.

The client and the brief are kept a well-guarded secret until the day, with competing teams only receiving a teaser the day before the competition to get their creative juices flowing.

On the day of competition at FAD Gallery in Melbourne, each team will be given the advertising brief to work on.  In the afternoon the work will be presented to the panel of judges, which consists of big names within the industry.

The winning team will then be announced and will go on to turn their RAW concept into a finished campaign that will be published in The Age.

According to David Hoath, Sales and Marketing Director for The Age, Creative RAW is a great opportunity to provide junior creatives with an exciting client brief that will inspire a renewed interest in newspapers as an advertising communication medium.

"The Age enjoys working with the MADC to help agencies train their creative talent and gives young juniors an opportunity to work with respected leaders in the field with a live client, which is invaluable experience for them. This competition shows the commitment MADC and The Age has to setting a professional standard in the industry in Melbourne and assisting this emerging talent; mentoring them in a one-on-one environment," said Hoath.

Acting President of the MADC, Richard Ralphsmith says the Creative RAW competition is unlike any other in the industry.

"Creative Raw is always a highlight of the MADC calendar, and even more so this year. With an absolutely brilliant brief (top secret of course), it's a rare opportunity for instant recognition that every junior creative in Melbourne should jump at."

Junior Creative teams must register by the extended deadline of Friday 30 October by emailing Kat White at kat.white82@gmail.com, by calling her on 0421 303 085, or the MADC at 03 9645 6550.
