Patts to punters: harden up for the AFL season

Picture 755.pngPicture 754.pngGPY&R Melbourne has launched a new retail campaign for the AFL's pre-season competition, The NAB Cup. Being the first AFL most people will have seen since September, the campaign revolves around the idea that summer has made you soft. And in order to harden up, you need to get into AFL as quickly as possible. Proof of this summer softness and the remedy has been delivered via TV, print, radio and digital.

Well the 'hair' one is a piece of shit, but the 'totem tennis' one works.

Jenna Jameson said:

I don't like the totem tennis one, i think the reaction is rubbish.

agree, hair doesn't work, totem ok. Nice thought though.

I don't mind either. Not world beating, but a new and funny strategy for selling sport.

Not a bad job.

Picnic is where the action is though!

I like them both.

But I like Even more than Paul.

He has cuter eyes.

Anonymous said:

Unlike the two people before me who sit sharpening their knives, i liked both of them.

The hair one is creepy, and I like that!!!

Even is creepy, and I like that!

Hi Even.

Why does summer make us soft?

Maybe if we lived in Siberia.

Reg said:

It's got shades of the Cricket campaign they did at a few Patts years ago, the one that got into D&AD.

Not slagging, just observing.

I agree, Evan does have cuter eyes, but Paul has a better scent.

Sweet ads.

But i'm loving the thread of this blog more.

Paul's eyes are darker, much more mysterious!

Angus Sampson is a lot more creepy than you all. He also did a nice job on this!!

Nathan said:

Both are stink. Looking forward to seeing some better work on this blog sometime soon.

Geoff & Andy said:

finally some simple ideas executed very well. great stuff

Steve said:

Let's start by saying that these ads are alright and the idea is actually quite funny. On another subject, why do people still bother posting work on this site? Just have a look at all the inane comments above and the multitude of irrelevant bullshit drivel (including this post) posted here on an everyday basis and what are you left with? Cute eyes, better scent, whatever? Honestly, how can anyone reading this not end up thinking that this industry is populated with half-wit idiots with the IQ of your average special needs pre-schooler? If you are looking for PR, look somewhere else. God forbid, if you're looking for real feedback on your work, go and ask the punter on the street or even your neighbour. But come on people, do yourselves a favour and stop posting work on this blog. Is a sovereign waste of time and it does not move the industry forward one bit.

I prefer it when Angus is directing a bunch of wasted naked people.

And if you don't know what I'm talking about - you just don't know.

Both are funny, prefer the Totem Tennis one - the dude looks like a fairy

Anonymous said:

I like the hair one. I bet Evan wears Old Spice.

Anonymous said:

Haha 8:47, looks like Steve's up to his old tricks again.

Anonymous said:

Nice thought but executions let it down

Dean said:

Ah Steve, try this:

Because here, it gets seen by real creatives. And the odd fuckwit.

Unlike AdNews, B&T or wherever the fuck you're from.

Pauly said:

Great comment Steve, you should pick carrots out of rectinoids via blogs for a living.
