So far, the karma isn't that good

Picture 1044.pngThe Pitch: Some would call it biting the hand that feeds him, others a brave move by a committed individual to, yes, make the world a better place. Either way Craig Davis, a senior figure in the Australian and global advertising industry, is walking a tightrope with the launch last week of his Brandkarma website. So says Julian Lee in Friday's SMH.

UPDATE: Looks like the BrandKarma name has been around for a while in the US.

My issue with Brandkarma is not what it's nobly trying to achieve, but simply this: 99.9% of consumers, the regular mums, dads and kids out there, couldn't care less about contributing to sites like Brandkarma. As usual, the committed - from genuinely interested to zealots on a mission - will dominate and sway the findings accordingly.
For instance, I reckon 90% of Australians don't have any problems with Nestle - but according to BK they obviously do. Anyway, credit to Craig for putting his money where his mouth is. Even more credit to him when he sells it for big $'s!

Interesting that Mojo client Toyota is the number two car brand according to Brand Karma. That does not fit in with other surveys on world car brands over the last year, most of which have been disastrous for Toyota following all the bad PR.

The average mug punter has got more important things to worry about.
This is a creation of a bored creative that needs a reality check.
Craig, if you're so into this.Piss off the job and do it for real.
Remember a principal isn't a principal until it costs you money.

In Craig's defence 9:55, he did use his own money.

I like Toyota.

Andy, you would have appeared wittier if you spelt 'bored creative' as 'board creative' which as CCO of Mojo he doubtless is.

And it's principle, not principal. He's a principal of Mojo, but...oh, do I really have to explain everything to you?

You're a bunch of whining cnuts. Piss off and leave the guy alone. At least he's trying something new. More than most people in this totally unoriginal, uninspired market.

Fart.

Right. That's enough of desperately searching the internet trying to tear down ideas. If you want to have a go at an idea, fair enough, tear away. But there is nothing more pathetic than relying on Google to do your dirty work, than actually articulating an argument as to the pros and cons of a concept.
