M&C Saatchi launches digital production company Make with offices in Sydney, Melbourne

SimonMcMaster.jpegM&C Saatchi has launched digital production agency, Make, which will have offices in Sydney and Melbourne, and service clients across the M&C Saatchi group of companies as well as sourcing its own clients. Previous to the launch of Make, M&C Saatchi's digital production functionality was housed within its digital, direct and data agency - Mark.

M&C Saatchi worldwide chairman Tom Dery said the creation of Make enabled Mark to concentrate on producing leading edge digital and direct work for its existing roster of clients and to pursue new clients.
Dery said the nature of Make's business as a full service digital production agency meant client conflict was not an issue.

"Make is free to pursue any clients, including other communication agencies, that have a need for its considerable digital production expertise, experience and facilities."

Mark head of digital Simon McMaster has been anointed as Make managing director.

McMaster said it is a logical progression to set up a stand-alone enterprise to handle all facets of digital production.

"Make can handle the entire spectrum of work, from big volume, quick turnaround, 450 banner ads a week-type jobs to high-end, complex web development through to cutting edge use of new technologies.

In addition to clients inherited from the M&C Saatchi group of companies, Make launched with two independently-sourced clients and is in discussions with a number of undisclosed agencies about providing its expertise.

Of Make's 55 staff, 45 reside in its Sydney office with the remainder in Melbourne.

"We are looking to grow our staff numbers," Mr McMaster said.

I’m confused. Does this mean newly-made Managing Director, Mr. McMaster, made M&C’s Mark into Make? Or is Make making Mark more marketable?

So there was Mark. And now there's Make.

Sounds like a half decent bourbon. Doubt it'll taste as good though.

Guys if you look in the Australian Interactive Media Industry Association Annuals there is already a firm called Make. A google search before you named yourself would have been a good idea

Similar business model to Ogilvy Redworks? The only difference, RED actually Works.

Film production companies focus on crafting agency work (and make it better), why should it be different for digital as the execution depends on the quality and breadth of the people and skills who actually build it. Perhaps this might shake the tree as it is not always about the "big idea" bollocks....

Good luck to them as I am in the same game and we should start to celebrate all parts of this industry.

P.S. Who TF is Red and what have they done lately, ohh, extend that to Ogilvy - what have they done lately which was any good??

"Make is free to pursue any clients, including other communication agencies...."

So, other ad agencies are going to happily get Make to do digital production work on their clients without considering that it's part of probably the most aggressive and successful new business winning ad agency in Australia?
