Cubed Communications takes out inaugural [young]ADMA Vic Creative Slam Down
Held at the No-Vacancy gallery in Melbourne, two young Melbourne
creative teams took to the stage to present the results of several late
night working sessions to an expectant crowd of their peers. Up against
Cubed in this winner take all slam down were Melanie Stevens and Lee
Phillips from Mark.
Stevens and Phillips won the toss and
presented first. Their fun street art based campaign received a rousing
cheer from the crowd. And as far as the team from Cubed were concerned,
Mark were a hard act to follow.
But follow they did, with an outstanding campaign that brought together Bud Naked Wine (the brand they were tasked with promoting) and the Parklife Festival, under the very clever tagline of "Bring something new to the party".
Guest adjudicator, and host for the night, Stanley Johnson, CD at Wunderman, was seriously impressed by the work of both teams. "Our industry's in good hands," said Johnson. "I'd say these four talented young people have just put themselves on the radar of pretty much every CD in town."
The winning team on the night was chosen by audience vote and, according to Johnson: "The team from Cubed showed a terrific understanding of what makes a big idea, but just as importantly, how to put together a thoroughly modern direct marketing campaign."
The [young]ADMA VIC Creative Slam Down was designed to give two young creative teams the chance to show off their talents in front of industry peers (and a couple of stalwarts). It was the first event for Victoria's newest industry group, who came together earlier in 2010 as an offshoot of ADMA Victoria, with the aim of turning on the younger end of the industry to the most inspiring events, people and trends in direct marketing.
"This is just the beginning for [young]ADMA VIC, and
we're really excited to have sold out our first event. Our plan is to
continue the creative slam down events every two months or so, to
showcase the amazing new talent coming through the ranks," says
[young]ADMA VIC chair Rebecca Pountney.
"We're also looking at some other ideas for inspiring the industry with new and interesting information, including a more regular but informal networking program and a series of guest presentations from the people that we think are leading the way in DM".
The event sold out within 24 hours of being put up on the Campaign Brief blog, so for the first word on [young]ADMA VIC events, find them on Facebook at [y]ADMA Victoria, follow them on Twitter @yADMAVictoria or drop us an email at info@yadma.com
