Australia scores a record 12 jury spots at the Cannes International Festival of Creativity
Indicative of our top 5 position in world advertising creativity, Australia has scored a record 12 juror spots for this year’s Cannes International Festival of Creativity in June.
Last week Campaign Brief revealed the first three jurors to represent Australia at Cannes this year: Dylan Harrison (top left), ECD at DDB Sydney, who will be on the Promo & Activation Lions jury; Ant Keogh (top right), ECD at Clemenger BBDO, Melbourne, who will be on the Press Lions jury; and Matt Batten (top centre), CD at Wunderman, Sydney, who is on the Direct Lions jury.
As reported by Campaign Brief in December, Warren Brown (second row left), Creative Founder of BMF, is president of the Promo & Activation jury.
Australia’s other jurors announced today are: Mark Harricks, joint ECD of JWT Sydney (second row right) will be on the Film Lions jury; Micah Walker, ECD of Mojo, Sydney (second row middle) will be on the Outdoor jury; Jay Furby, ECD of JayGrey, Sydney (above left) will be on the Radio Lions jury; Nancy Hartley, joint ECD of Sapient Nitro, Brisbane (above centre) will be on the Cyber Lions jury; Mindshare’s James Greet will be on the Media Lions jury; Kat Thomas of One Green Bean will be on the PR Lions jury; and Droga5, Sydney planning partner Sudeep Gohill (above right) will be on the inaugural Creative Effectiveness jury.
FG Entertainment director Dave Denneen will be on the Film Craft Lions jury. Denneen (pictured left with his producer Anna Fawcett) told CB on the weekend: “It’s great to be asked to judge at Cannes, especially in the film craft category. I always have and always will love the art of film making.”
Says Garth Agius, group director marketing: advertising and integration at News Limited – Australia’s Cannes representatives: “We’re pleased to announce Australian judges have been selected on twelve of the main jury panels, up from nine judges selected last year. The increase in the number of Australian jurors in 2011 is a nod to our media and creative industry recognising that we have some of the best talent in the world.
“It’s also a real honour to have an Australian juror for the new creative effectiveness category, and a jury president in the promo and activation category. Judging at Cannes means mixing with some of the best talent in the world and we’re sending a great cross section of experienced and talented individuals,” he said.

Sapient still riding best job.
Before we get knee-deep into Cannes, can you please publish the AWARD winners. The whole list, not just the top 10 agencies. Not all of us were there on the night.
Thanks.
Furbs still riding that press shot from ’95.
