Developed by Monkii in Melbourne, in partnership with American Express, The Thousands application offers a filtered selection of bars, restaurants, cafes, shops, galleries and events across Australia's five biggest cities, curated by a local team of writers.

By facilitating The Thousands iPhone app, American Express helps connect people with meaningful experiences in each city, becoming part of consumer's conversations without compromising the integrity of the content that they receive.

Monkii developer Matt Langtree says the biggest challenge was delivering a "better and simpler user experience, users want great content, not feature overload".

The latest version of the application includes a feature that converts the location of each Thousands experience into a relevant Foursquare ID, so that users can 'check in' at each venue.

The Thousands City Guides iPhone app is an extension of the online website city guides ThreeThousand.com.au (Melbourne); TwoThousand.com.au (Sydney); FourThousand.com.au  (Brisbane); FiveThousand.com.au (Adelaide) and SixThousand.com.au (Perth), published by creative studio Right Angle Studio in Melbourne.

The latest version of The Thousands is available now at the iTunes Store.
