Adelaide studio Resin brings fruit and veg to life for Disney XD via The Ebeling Group New York
Adelaide animation and visual effects studio Resin has recently completed a number of promos for US production company The Ebeling Group (TEG) and Disney XD.
The series asked for fruit and veggies to be active and cool for their audience (boys 7-11). Resin designed and animated a series of fruit and veggie characters that surf, skate, slap, shred and bounce…the promos form part of a bigger picture Disney initiative trying to encourage healthier behaviour in young children.
Says Grant Lovering, CD, Resin: “The characters needed to be fun for that age group, but not too young. What we came up with has a bit of attitude and the celery just makes you laugh he’s cool.”
Beyond the characters, a lot of detailing went into the environments and the design of secondary elements such as the gear and equipment. Equipment and the custom designed protective wear has all been designed to work within in the XD style guide. These design details have added to the richness of the spots and pays off in the closeups.
Says Lincoln Wogan, EP, Resin: “It was great to see the first promo we did for Disney XD late last year picking up a silver at Promax and to be collaborating with TEG is huge, these guys are in the top echelon internationally so it’s continually a scratch yourself moment for us. We are enjoying working with other directors and also getting a chance to do our own thing on the right projects.”
