Mike Vanderfield's '#whilewewatch' documentary to have a live worldwide stream this Friday 27th
SnagFilms, one of the world's leading distributors of independent films to digital platforms, will debut the new film #whilewewatch with a free, live, world premiere streaming event on Thursday, April 26th (Friday 27th 10am EST), originating from the Paley Center for Media in New York City, powered by UStream, it was announced today.
A
gripping portrait of the "Occupy Wall Street" media revolution,
#whilewewatch is the first definitive film to emerge from Zuccotti Park -
with full access and cooperation from the masterminds who made "Occupy
Wall Street" a reality.
As the film unfolds, we witness a new dawn with the power of social
media. The "Occupy Wall Street" media team had no fear of a critical
city government, big corporations, hostile police, or a lagging
mainstream media to tell their story. Through rain, snow, grueling days,
sleeping on concrete; they pump out exhilarating ideas to the world.
Fueled with little money, they rely on the power of Twitter, texting,
Wi-Fi, posters, Tumblr, live streams, YouTube, Facebook, dramatic
marches, drumbeats and chants.
Says director Kevin Breslin: "Zuccotti Park was loud, dirty, wet, cold and exhilaratingly alive with passion and energy. Intelligence, imagination, information and raw emotion ruled every second! I witnessed the birth of a line that will go down in history, 'We are the 99%.'"
The people in this film are genuinely decent. They all are immensely bright. They are kind, tough and loaded with the belief that this is what being an American citizen is about."
"SnagFilms is pleased to bring such a groundbreaking film to a global audience with this live social viewing event," stated Stephanie Sharis, SnagFilms COO. "The whole world will literally be able to watch #whilewewatch together - what better way to launch a film about the revolutionary power and influence of social media."
Vanderfield (above) said it had been a fascinating process following the development of a social media lead revolution: "We hope #whilewewatch becomes an educational tool as well as documenting a piece of American history."
