The Tour leaves Sydney September 2012; and is open to current advertising students at TAFE NSW – Sydney Institute Ultimo and to new students enrolling in July.

New Advertising and PR Diploma courses are enrolling Wednesday (tomorrow) in Building G at Sydney Tafe in Ultimo or email Sharon Bennett here

Sydney TAFE JWT.jpgThis opportunity gives Sydney Institute senior advertising students an insight into the educational and industry practices of the regional advertising industry and a first-hand look at the innovative techniques and practices currently used in the rapidly changing market of Asia.

Marcus Bear, advertising teacher from Ultimo College will be accompanying the students on the trip.

Following the overwhelming success of the 2011 Singapore Study Tour, the 2012 event will set the benchmark.

Says Bear: “This study program has come about from discussing the current needs of the advertising industry today. It offers students exposure to the way the international advertising industry operates. The tour offers an ideal mix of academic excellence, hands on industry experience, exciting competitions and a chance to participate in the renowned Spikes Asia Advertising Creativity Festival and Awards, where the best creative minds from the region will exhibit their work and in turn inspire our students.”

Says Angus Fraser, managing director J Walter Thompson Singapore: “Having the students from last year set a high expectation of the talent coming through the ranks.”

As part of the study tour students will be visiting industry corporate offices, major advertising and media agencies including J Walter Thompson Singapore Advertising, Lowe and Partners Singapore, OMD Singapore and Nokia Asia/Pacific.

One of the highlights will be the Asia Pacific Spikes creative Awards Ceremony. Terry Savage chairman Cannes Lions is working with Sydney Institute to develop a dedicated workshop for the students as part of the Spikes Festival Program.

Each year Spikes Asia presents a world-class program of seminars and workshops that address the most important issues affecting the Advertising Industry. Previous speakers at the festival include Sir Martin Sorrell, chief executive of WPP, best-selling author Bryce Courtney and CEO of JWT Worldwide Bob Jeffrey.

Says Bear: “This year we can only take 10 students so I am looking forward to a fantastic representation from Sydney Institute Ultimo.”
