Sydney Opera House joins TEDxSydney as major partner + host for the 2013 event to be held May 4

tedsydneyop.jpgAfter three happy years hosted by Carriageworks in Eveleigh, TEDxSydney, the annual Australian ideas festival, is moving to another remarkable venue for its 2013 event.

TEDxSydney 2013 will happen at the Sydney Opera House on Saturday 4 May 2013.

The full day event will take place in the Concert Hall before a live audience of over 2,000. It will be simulcast throughout the public areas of the Sydney Opera House for members of the public and visitors to enjoy on the day. It will also be streamed live to a worldwide audience, viewing from home, the workplace or one of the satellite events.
Says Remo Giuffré, TEDxSydney licensee: "We're very excited about this new major partnership with the Sydney Opera House. TEDxSydney has had three wonderful years at Carriageworks; but it just felt like it was time to try something new and different there in the Big Room. The growing commitment to ideas (dangerous or otherwise) at the House makes them a like-minded partner for TEDxSydney as we embark on our next phase of development.

"Sydney Opera House shares our vision to make TEDxSydney the region's leading platform for great storytelling, creativity and actionable innovation. And, the iconic nature of the venue is sure to inspire the programming, and even the catering of food for the day. Stay tuned!"

Says Jonathan Bielski, Sydney Opera House executive producer and acting CEO: "We welcome TEDxSydney to Sydney Opera House. We see this partnership as an opportunity to further support the important role of ideas, discussion and debate in our community alongside our established Ideas At The House and Festival of Dangerous Ideas programs. We aim to provide a creative platform for TEDxSydney to continue to grow."

Says Lara Stein, TEDx licensing director: "Sydney Opera House is the perfect venue for TEDxSydney and we at TED are excited to watch this next chapter of TEDxSydney unfold."
