ted.jpgThe Australian Cinema Box Office has recorded the 5th highest week on record, with over $40.8m spent last week on movie tickets.

Blockbuster films such as Ice Age: Continental Drift, The Amazing Spider-Man, Brave and Snow White and the Huntsman have all contributed but it has been the runaway success of Ted that has fuelled the Box Office haul.

Says Paul Butler, Val Morgan marketing director: “Ted’s broad appeal has surprised everyone. With over $17m in ticket sales to date, Ted has already become one of the most successful MA15+ movies of all time. It’s the second highest opening of an MA15+ movie after the Hangover 2 which released last year”

The Box Office boom is set to continue with an exceptional outlook of blockbuster releases ahead, including the hugely anticipated The Dark Knight Rises (releasing on Thursday), Skyfall, Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Great Gatsby among many others.
