DebtConsolidation.com.au
have created and released a new infographic showing the true financial
cost of each medal won by Australia's athletes and just how many Aussies
could have been helped if just a quarter of this tax payers' money was
diverted to Aussie charities.
Spend $6 million for a couple of medals in Canoeing, or help 29,000 families with the same cash. Doesn't seem like much thought needs to go into that choice (not that I've got anything against canoes, or canoe-yers or canoe-ists (?)
But then, would a country want to reduce its medal haul in the Olympics, when the same taxpaying public would demand to know why. You can't have your canoe and eat it too, I guess.
