Domino's appoints Sydney agency Elevencom to handle creative across Australia + New Zealand

dominos.jpgAfter Domino's split with BMF in May to go in-house, the company has announced the appointment of creative agency, Elevencom, to assist its advertising strategy across Australia and New Zealand.

Elevencom will commence work immediately and will provide creative strategy and campaign development.

Domino's CEO Don Meij said he is excited to welcome Elevencom to the Domino's team and is looking forward to a long-term, successful partnership.

Says Meij: "I am delighted to welcome the Elevencom team to the Domino's family and look forward to seeing the team take us to a whole new level in the future."
Domino's chief marketing officer Allan Collins said the decision to appoint a new creative agency came after the company decided to bring the majority of its advertising production in-house to streamline efficiencies.

Says Collins: "We have made the decision to move the majority of our advertising creative and production in-house. However, at the same time we have decided to appoint Elevencom to assist with our creative strategy and campaign development."

Elevencom director Jono McCauley said his team was excited at the opportunity to work with Domino's.

Says McCauley: "We are delighted and excited to be working with such a dynamic brand as Dominos, which operates in a complex and extremely competitive marketplace. We look forward to delivering more added value to their business."

No agency should allow their staff to suffer abuse for the company's financial gain.

Must be about the only agency who hasn't worked with this client, and by worked I really mean been bent over a barrel. Best of luck Elevencom. I give it six months before you've had enough.

So let's get this straight. They yank the account and go in-house, obviously thinking they don't need an agency. Then just a few months later they appoint a nobody shop (ie easy to push around) for campaign development, which is code for 'we weren't quite as good at coming up with the ideas as we thought we'd be'. If you've never worked on this client, that right there tells you everything you need to know about the way they go about business. Something Elevencom is about to learn in the worst way possible. Trust me, Elevencom, whatever deal you think you've struck, the money will not be worth it.

A year from now a pub and a psychologist are going to get a lot of work from Elevencom

How can anyone involved in the Dominos business believe things will be different when the client doesn't change - they just change agencies time an time again????? Madness

The actual client is a pleasant man.

Oh Jono, where do I send the condolence card?

You know that scene from Deliverance, where the rednecks ask the fat guy to start squealing a like a pig? That shit is just about to get real.

Yep......worst client to work for in Australia....but that's what happens when you are out of your depth, don't have a clue, have an ego the size of Texas and get your kicks screaming and abusing people. I give it 6 to 12 months.

Well done Jono, Ryan & John. Yours really does go up to 11.

That bad really? But look at the brilliant work they produced in the States!

Yep and thats why agencies don't make pizza.
Cause its not what they do.

Muppets.

Why? said:

By the looks of Elevencom, they're small enough to be Domino's in-house agency anyway. Same thing really.

Clearly you haven't met the actual client. And unless you want to end up like me I suggest you keep it that way.

Pretty fucking sad for a client when an agency change is met by the kind of comments as above....I'm sure they pride themselves on providing a happy, safe and friendly environment for all it's staff. Amazing then that the company turns a blind eye to the fucking disgusting behaviour by a certain individual who is probably hands down the most hated client in Australia. Good luck Elevencom.

I predict this will be a two press release relationship.

1) In 4-6 weeks' time Elevencom and Dominos are proud to launch their latest campaign; a piece of work that looks very much like every other bit of Dominos work because the client totally railroaded the whole process.

2) About 1-2 months after that (or one more campaign later if Elevencom are in the crapper financially) Elevencom and Dominos announce they're going their separate ways, a statement which Elevencom says they're not bothered about, that it was the best for both parties, and they wish Dominhoes all the best.

You see kids, the future is very easy to predict when you study the past. Here endth the lesson.

Are Dominoes going out of business?

Don't think so.

Do they change agencies like they swap their two pizzas, garlic and Coke deal in and out every two minutes, because ours is an industry of whores?

Indeed they do.

Does the consumer give a flying fuck?

Nope. They like pizza.

Have you worked on a federal government pitch recently? Five grand (if you're lucky) for a year's worth (sometimes more) of free, innovative, game-changing thinking that goes absolutely no-fucking-where.

A fish rots from the head.

Just saying.

Is Domino here a franchise? Otherwise surely all those good marketing work they get to make in the States would influence them to do better here?
