Jessica Mauboy and TBWA\Digital Arts Network launch The Sapphires movie app – ‘Soul Sync’
TBWAʼs newly formed Digital Arts Network has teamed up with Goalpost Pictures Australia to launch ʻThe Sapphiresʼ movie app, called Soul Sync.
The movie, which was recently selected at Cannes International Film Festival, tells the story of an indigenous soul group called The Sapphires.
To promote the movie, Digital Arts Network has created a lip synching iPhone application called ʻSoul Syncʼ. The app features the filmʼs actress, Jess Mauboy, who auditions you to become one of The Sapphires.
Using the app, first you learn how to sing like a soul diva, and then you are synched into a personalized video featuring The Sapphires soundtrack that you can share with friends via social media.
The app also features the real Sapphires story with an interactive gallery narrated by Tony Briggs, writer of the movieʼs screenplay.
Says Russ Tucker, national creative director of Digital Arts Network in Australia: “The movie and gaming industry is turning its attention more and more to smartphones and apps in order to socialize content. Digital Arts Network will continue to innovate in the area of movie marketing and will certainly have a focus on mobile.”
Digital Arts Network developed the Soul Sync App with the assistance of Screen NSW and Screen Australia.

Dull.
Dig it. Nice one soul sista Paz.
Well done, Learch, your name was actually longer than your comment.
Don’t mind this, will go down well with fans of the movie. The lip-sync app looked jerky but didn’t really see enough to judge, so I’m gonna lock myself in the shower and try the app myself. You won’t be laughing when I win American Idol.
gimmicky for the tweens, but with storytelling substance for the adults. I reckon it complements the movie quite well – something for everyone
I don’t get why re-branding Tequila as DAN makes them “newly-formed”
None of the people or teams changed.. just the sign on the door..?
Just sayin’
It hasn’t changed much in Sydney.
What is has changed is all over the world. So companies like AngryLabs, Shift, etc are now all part of one big digital network.
It means we can collaborate and use different skill sets not available to many other people.
