Republic of Everyone launches 'The Hero's Handbook' - first in sustainability book series

heros handbook.jpgRepublic of Everyone is launching the first in a series of books highlighting the benefits of sustainability to business and society.

The Hero's Handbook demonstrates that sustainability is no longer a marginal part of corporate strategy and has instead become synonymous with smart business.

In part the book was written following the Republic of Everyone's involvement at the United Nation's Rio+20 Earth Summit in June.

It was at the Rio+20 Earth Summit that Republic of Everyone saw first hand how sustainability is now driving the global business agenda and has some powerful supporters including Unilever, Puma and Microsoft to name a few.

The book is available to download here. To learn more about the Republic of Everyone, click here.
Says Ben Peacock, Republic of Everyone co-founder: "Right now, more than ever before, the world needs heroes. We wrote this book in honour of the brands stepping up to the mark and to inspire more brands to do so."

Over the last few years Republic of Everyone has supported companies, including Australian Ethical, VISY, Lend Lease, and NAB to help them leverage the business value sitting in their corporate social responsibility and sustainability function.

Says Scott Matyus-Flynn, head of strategy at Republic of Everyone: "Increasingly big companies are taking action on sustainability. It's not just NGOs or governments anymore - we need action from the business community, or else we won't see the necessary change."

The skills and capabilities within Republic of Everyone's team of 25 specialists have been refined into three core products: Hero Planning, Hero Branding and Hero Talk. The Hero's Handbook captures this experience and starts to provide some of the insights that Republic of Everyone have identified in their Hero Planning work.

The book aims to help chief executive officers and senior managers to understand how sustainability is most effectively delivered by brands as part of a total business strategy.

Says Matt Perry, co-founder of Republic of Everyone: "To make genuine changes to the way they do things, businesses must first address the challenges that are most relevant to them. When businesses do this with credibility and transparency they can become Heroes. Working with companies determined to take leadership and shake up the status quo is what gets us most excited."

A winner at the 2011 International Green Awards, Republic of Everyone is launching The Hero's Handbook at the MOSS/International Green Awards Sustainability Summits between 13 to 23 August nationwide.
