Libra sends girls to boot camp in new TV commercial via Clemenger BBDO Melbourne

libra.jpgClemenger BBDO Melbourne has launched a new TVC for Libra Invisible pads.

The 30 sec spot opens with the universal agony of getting out of bed early on a cold morning to go to boot camp. Urged on by her more motivated friend, the hero finally hauls herself out from under her doona and kits up for boot camp.

Saw this ad the other night and liked it. Nice departure from the usual type of tampon ads. Nice work Clems!

That's actually good.

No woman would ever do that.
Libra ads always smack of being written by blokes. I'm amazed that account is at an agency that has no female creatives.

Seen it all before said:

It's basically a Diet Coke ad.

Plus, why would having her period prevent her from getting up to perve at blokes?

(oh, wait, I get it now...)

Nice performances going on there.

Love it, good idea and nice and filmy

But what about... said:

Needs a 10 second animation telling everyone how tampons work. Surely.

The Nicks, again. Good work.

Least it's different to what I usually do. It'll probably make moving into an even more interesting area a little easier (client-wise).

@Sorry

Female Creatives wrote the "Beaver" ad for Kotex.

If you asked me to guess which of the two ads was written by women, I would say this one.

Bullseye, Tim. Ouch!

One example does not a convincing argument make.

Madam! My comment was not intended to take in the sweeping, all-encompassing issue of gender imbalance in creative departments. I really couldn't give a rat's either way. If you wish to march on the Parliament for equal rights and equal representation, go ahead. I was merely commenting on 'Tim's' accurate and insightful observation that Kotex Beaver is the sort of campaign you'd expect to be devised by guffawing Neanerthal men, and this Libra spot has the lightness of touch and simpatico one might expect from women. No more, no less.
