The Sydney Running Festival launches new iPhone app via Brisbane-based agency Decoder

Using advanced GPS tracking technology that is enabled through Facebook Connect, supporters can follow their runner in real-time, as they navigate the course. It is the first time Suncorp Bank has chosen to use digital as a sponsorship activation channel.

Says Tom Evans, Decoder's head of digital: "When we looked at the category, it was obvious that there is a plethora of apps and other digital tools available for runners. Nike+ has headed that space for a long time and we didn't need to go there. Suncorp's sponsorship strategy is all about improving people's experience of the day. By using digital to include the essential support crew of family and friends who turn up to cheer their runner on, we've helped amplify that strategy."
