Charlie.jpgThis year’s crop of bright young creatives enrolled in ADMA’s annual Creative School was lauded at a graduation party held on Thursday, 18 October at agency OgilvyOne with architect Charles Grant (left) winning overall class student.

Other winners included Peter Mountford, who took out Best Copywriter and Jessica Roberts (bottom, right with Richard Pester, ADMA’s director education and training) who was chosen as best Art Director.

AwardWinner3.jpgRob Morrison, head tutor and creative director at OgilvyOne, said the three winners were standouts who were definitely ‘industry ready.’

Says Morrison: “We always hope with every Creative School graduating class that we will end up with a few students who are workplace ready. Charles, Peter and Jessica could walk into any agency, be handed a brief and deliver against it.

“Creative School is a testing ground that gives young people an opportunity to see if the industry is for them. With seven briefs in just eight weeks the pressure is intense – but that’s what the industry is truly like. Some students learn it’s not for them and that’s absolutely fine too.

Says Jodie Sangster, ADMA CEO: “The great thing about Creative School is it allows these young people to get to know some of the country’s top copywriters and art directors and get their work and ideas in front of them – something they would normally struggle to do given how busy these people are in their day jobs.”

ADMA Creative School is run by some of Australia’s leading creative directors. It allows students to develop skills that can help them land a job as a junior copywriter or art director. A third of all Creative School students are employed in creative roles within six months of graduation.
