Australian cancer organisation CanTeen launches 'Bandanna Art' app via Tribal DDB Melbourne

Bandanna Art image 1 AM.jpgAustralian cancer organisation CanTeen has launched 'Bandanna Art' iOS app that allows people to create their very own, personalised bandannas using only their finger and iPhone or iPad for CanTeen's National Bandanna Day via Tribal DDB Melbourne.

Whilst it is by far their most successful fundraising event, the mechanics of National Bandanna Day have remained largely unchanged since its inception in 1994. So, CanTeen needed a way to make it more relevant for the digital age.

Tribal DDB Melbourne's challenge was to achieve this without compromising nearly two decades of equity and goodwill.

Via a range of tools users are able to draw, stamp, colour-in or even write their bandanna design on their device, then have it printed and delivered directly to them, with 100% of all profits going directly to CanTeen. Ken Done, the creator of CanTeen's iconic logo, has lent his support, designing bandannas using the application in his iconic style, also appearing as spokesperson in a promotional video for the application.

Ben Kidney, Tribal DDB Melbourne's General Manager: "National Bandanna Day marks the point when CanTeen is most visible in the market place.  We wanted to leverage this opportunity, to build interest and sell more bandannas through this highly innovative application. It's wonderful to support CanTeen whilst demonstrating Tribal DDB's passion for social creativity and technology."

Says Vanessa Byrne, general manager, marketing and fundraising for CanTeen: "The bandanna is such an integral part of who CanTeen is and means so much to the young people we support. Tribal DDB have not only captured the essence of the CanTeen brand, but have provided an exciting way for us to trial a digital component to the traditionally offline National Bandanna Day."
