Designworks Melbourne appoints David Jenkinson in the role of strategy director

DesignworksMelbourne.jpgDesignworks, a leading strategic design company and part of STW Group has added to its ‘Dream Team’ in Australia with the appointment of David Jenkinson (left) as Strategy Director, Designworks, based in Melbourne.

Significantly boosting the agency’s strategic firepower in Australia, Jenkinson’s appointment completes Melbourne’s leadership team in line with Designwork Group’s strategy to attract the industry’s most respected and talented practitioners and become Australia’s leading agency focused on design thinking.

Utilising his depth of knowledge of marketing, branding theory, tools and core strategic processes Jenkinson’s key responsibility will be to lead brand positioning and strategic planning for Designwork’s clients. Initially Jenkinson will focus on key clients including Bank of Melbourne, oOh!Media, GWA Group, Cricket Australia and Blamey & Saunders with a strong new business drive completing his brief.

Jenkinson has a strong belief that understanding consumers’ motivations, using the principles of branding, and applying design thinking are the key requirements for future business success.

Says Jenkinson: “Helping companies grow the top line, either through identifying new opportunities for growth or adding value to the customer experience is what drives me. I recognise this requires an affinity with clients’ existing business model and recognition of their inherent competitive strengths and I will be using these principles across Designworks existing client portfolio and also with future clients.”

In the UK and Asia, Jenkinson has led branding programs for global clients including Colgate, American Express and Ford and in Australia has led major rebrands for clients as diverse as Westfield, ANZ, Pacific Brands, National Foods, NAB, Australian Tourism and QANTAS.

Prior to joining Designworks Jenkinson operated his own independent consulting business and most recently was with Ogilvy Australia where he established Ogilvy’s business consulting division RED.
