Moon Communications Group lures ex-Naked head of ideas Andy Pilkington for ECD role
The former head of ideas at Naked and founder of his own successful agency, Pilkington joins the Moon team immediately, replacing Greg Logan as ECD. Logan moves to HATCH, the Moon-backed content company he launched earlier this year in a full-time capacity, following ongoing growth within the new business.
Says Anouk Darling, Moon CEO: "Our commitment to the future means constantly redefining our offer along with our key talent. Greg's move into HATCH full-time and Andy's appointment is an example of this forward-looking approach.
"We wanted our new ECD to have creative leadership teamed with proven
success in the omni-channel landscape. Andy fits the bill perfectly,
bringing a wealth of digital experience. He also suits Moon's creative
niche having come from design origins.
"Moon's focus remains on building powerful brand experiences in the diverse retail landscape and Andy has the right mix of skills to take the charge. We're all looking forward to harnessing his strategic and creative smarts, and we know the Moon creative team will be in a stronger position as a result of his contribution."
Most recently the creative director of digital and brand experience at 303Lowe, Pilkington has more than 20 years experience in advertising and marketing both in Australia and the UK. He also joins Moon's executive team, and will work across all clients with a specific focus on Westfield, Vodafone and Sunglass Hut.
Pilkington said he was excited about the move to Moon, seeing it as "an opportunity to lead and shape a creative department for the future."
Says Pilkington: "The ECD role at Moon is an exciting opportunity to combine all of my creative passions in one place; building brands from the ground up, defining their behaviour and bringing it all to life with great ideas, in any channel. Also, retail is getting sexy again. Technology is allowing retailers update comms faster, more creatively and with more personalisation. Some of Moon's retail clients - Westfield, Vodafone and Sunglass Hut - present huge opportunities and I'm looking forward to being part of the retail revolution."
Since launching earlier this year, HATCH has undertaken a range of projects that have responded to "the growth in client interest in content, and how consumers are now searching and engaging with information," Darling said.
