Nissan launches X-Trail 'Spotto' road trip app for iPhone via Whybin\TBWA\Group Melbourne

01NissanSpotto.jpgNissan Australia has launched a photo-hunt competition with the release of the X-Trail Spotto iPhone game, downloadable now from the Apple iTunes app store via Whybin\TBWA\Group Melbourne.

X-Trail Spotto has players setting out on road-trip adventures and scouting out their path for interesting photo opportunities. By capturing images in true treasure hunt-style, badges are earned and real-world prizes can be won.

An extension of the Nissan X-Trail 'See Everything' campaign, X-Trail Spotto was born out of the insight that parents' iPhones often find their way into the hands of kids on car trips. However, in stark contrast to the vast majority of games, X-Trail Spotto encourages players to notice, explore and interact with the real world around them.

02NissanSpotto.jpgX-Trail Spotto counters the 'glued to the screen' nature of mobile gaming devices by incentivising adventure.

Using Facebook and Twitter, X-Trail Spotto combines the social photo sharing of networks like Instagram with competitive game elements. A live Pinterest feed will also publish images as they are snapped.

As a nod to the innovative four-camera Around View Monitor fitted to the X-Trail Ti and TL, Nissan is giving away four GoPro HD video cameras for the best set of photos each month until the end of January 2013.

Features:
  • Transforms a road trip into an exciting adventure
  • Six game levels based on the type of trip: Beach, Mountains, Suburbs, Forest, City, Country
  • Receive badges by spotting and capturing nine cool photos of items related to your road trip
  • Share your badges and shots on Facebook and Twitter
  • Enter a real life competition to win one of four GoPro HD video cameras

if the amount of pics my kids take on the iphone is anything to go by, this would keep them busy.
