AIMIA promotes Corinne Franks from commercial manager to newly created general manager role

In the role, Franks will have overall day-to-day responsibility for finance, HR, marketing, operations, PR, member services, patronship and sponsorship. She will also manage AIMIA’s partnerships, industry development groups and execute on the organisation’s strategic objectives.

Franks steps into the general manager role following a successful period serving as AIMIA’s commercial manager, a position she has held for just under two years.

John Butterworth, AIMIA CEO, said Franks was the obvious choice for the role. 

Says Butterworth: “Corinne has more than proven herself in the commercial manager role and has already been taking on some general manager responsibilities. She brings solid management experience to the role, and a strong understanding of AIMIA and the digital industry. The appointment of a general manager is a great milestone for AIMIA, and comes at a time of growth for us.”

During her time as commercial manager, Franks significantly exceeded targets, built relationships with new sponsors from industries previously not involved with AIMIA and successfully built the profile of the organisation. She also introduced a number of new initiatives which underpin the ongoing success of AIMIA’s sponsorship program.

Says Franks: “I’m thrilled to be moving into this role at a time when AIMIA is expanding and moving into new areas. I’m looking forward to taking on new challenges and sharing the organisation’s future direction while leading the fantastic team at AIMIA.”

Franks first joined AIMIA from Hannover Fairs Australia where she was general manager, conferences and events. In this role she had responsibility for marketing, sales, sponsorship, database and conference and events production. During her time at Hannover Fairs she significantly increased the profitability of conferences run at CeBIT Australia and grew the conference and events division from a team of one, to a team of 13 in just one year. Prior to Hannover Fairs, Franks worked as divisional director – production for IQPC a global conference production company.
