Children's charity Variety launches Christmas themed Facebook app via We Are Social

variety-tree-app.jpgVariety - the Children's Charity has launched a Facebook app created by social media agency We Are Social with a Christmas tree theme designed to help raise money for children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.

The Facebook app, which features a Christmas tree 'challenge', was designed with the primary objective to achieve a total of 10,000 shares which will translate into one of Variety's sponsors donating $10,000 to the charity.
The main element of the design is a Christmas tree which progressively lights up as more shares are achieved.

Launched on yesterday, the campaign will run through the month of December, or until 10,000 shares are reached.

Says Debbie Mundell, director at We Are Social: "We created the Facebook app with a very simple mechanism, so that all a Facebook user has to do is share a post to effectively contribute a dollar towards the overall target. One simple share will assist Variety in helping Australian children in need, and the Christmas tree which will gradually light up provides some festive visual cheer."

Says Grace Proust, marketing manager for Variety NSW: "A Facebook app is a first for Variety and we are excited about using it to share our message this Christmas and help raise awareness and funds for children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs."
