However, what he lacks in clocked nautical miles he makes up for with his ability to help secure a sponsor for his teammates aboard Local Hero.

Kicking off on December 26, 2012, the eight-man crew will be put to the test on a grueling category one, five-day blue water race. And, according to executive producer Grasse, there is a higher calling behind the decision to get a sponsor on board, with the move signaling his latest plan to win Cannes Gold in Outdoor, Integrated and Experiential.

Says Grasse: "This is branded entertainment of the highest order. This year's race can be branded in addition to it being entertaining.

"We can put a logo on the spinnaker, the hull and we can even have custom uniforms for the contending skipper and crew."
 
In a bid to win advertising's most sought after accolade, Grasse has been keenly working on the Cannes entry video for months.

Says Grasse: "There will be a feature film, a TV series, social media and of course outdoor up the wazoo, but first and foremost we need a logo.

"You know I'll get on TV, the cover of the Manly Daily, or Campaign Brief... and I'll owe it all to YOU!"
