Carlton Draught celebrates footy season launch with largest AFL promotion and giveaway with TV spot via Clemenger BBDO Melbourne
Carlton Draught takes its partnership with the AFL seriously, and to celebrate the beginning of the footy season, it is launching its biggest promotion with a new TVC via Clemenger BBDO, Melbourne.
Punters who buy Carlton Draught are in with a chance to win one of thousands of money-can’t-buy AFL style prizes, including footy style dartboards, footy shaped speakers and even a Footy Table (foostable).
The TVC accompanying the promotion iscalled ‘Footy’s back’. The TVC reminds consumers about Carlton Draught’s long and proud history of sponsorship with the AFL.
Says Richard Williams, Clemenger creative: “It’s always enjoyable to make an ad for Carlton Draught, especially when it involves football, darts and cheap footy nick nacks.”
To launch the campaign, Carlton Draught is rounding up a few footy legends for a ‘little’ game at the MCG. Ex-AFL players Daniel Harford, Cameron Mooney and Scott Lucas will pit their Footy Table skills against five lucky Carlton Draught Facebook fans this Friday, February 22. The round robin style match will be called by crowd favourite Anthony Hudson.
Says Alastair McCausland, marketing manager for Carlton Draught: “‘Footy Rules’ is a cracking promotion that celebrates our partnership with the AFL in a way that’s true to Carlton Draught, reminding us not to take ourselves too seriously. We figured if Carlton Draught is going to sully years of sponsorship of the AFL with trinkets, we better do it right.”
The Carlton Draught ‘Footy Rules’ promotion will run from February 18 until April 14.

the online experience could have been so much more!! bit of a let down when you get there, it’s screams advertising at me.
That many people to do this????
There are enough credits???
Lord give me strength will you stop moaning. This is great, such a witty response to a shitty promo. The opening lines are genius. Top marks to everyone involved and no that’s not me or anyone I know.
Hey, isn’t that the guy from the Crown Casino ad and the LIbra ad and Clemenger’s reception?
About 28 people in the credits and the industry wonders why people laugh at it. Why didn’t they just list the couple of people who didn’t work on it?
CREDIT FIGHT!
I went and saw a movie the other day. You should see the number of credits on that too.
is that me?
Why are they using a table footy (sorry, soccer) game to promote Aussie Rules?
I won a prize in Feb, despite emails/phone calls/address confirmation etc.nothing?
