Clare Plueckhahn - Clouds.jpgOne half of Cos We Can and advertising & surf Photographer Clare Plueckhahn has put together an ethereal underwater series for her first solo exhibition – ‘First We Fall’ which will run for two weeks at JCP Studios, 51 – 57 Cubitt Street Cremorne, from the 21st of Feb until the 6th of March (Mon-Fri only).

‘First We Fall’ is an artistic interpretation of humankind’s fear of failure. Through the images of a swimmer lost in the ocean, the series explores the notion that before we succeed, we must fail.

Well known for her images of women in the water, Plueckhahn takes this opportunity to marry her experience as a commercial photographer with her favourite subject matter. These ethereal images possess a haunting quality, simultaneously mesmerising and confronting viewers while still instilling a sense of hope.

Says Plueckhahn: “Like many photographers, a great deal of my time is spent working commercially and I believe it’s important to find opportunities to express myself creatively. I find that resilience is often an underrated attribute, and that learning to confront and overcome adversity is how people succeed.”
