Set for release on March 26, 2013, the film that led to the 2009 LP of the same name will broadcast across various platforms including iTunes, PlayStation, Amazon, Vudu, YouTube, Xbox, Roxio and Blinkbox. The documentary includes music and appearances by international stars David Byrne, Kanye West, Karen O, Tom Waits, Method Man, M.I.A. and Ol’ Dirty Bastard and is accompanied by visual images created by artists and animators such as Shepard Fairey, Marcel Dzama and Sage Vaughn.

Bringing artists together from a broad spectrum of genre and geography, the documentary encouraged them to step outside of their comfort zone. The film aims to provide a peak into the artistic process of these musicians and artists to celebrate the spirit of collaboration.

Says Garon: “It’s a cliché and probably a bit of a stretch to say everyone you worked with on a project was awesome and inspiring but I can honestly say this was the case with the N.A.S.A. film. The influence of this project will be felt for years to come.”

Co-directed by Garon and Spiegel and produced by Susan Applegate, N.A.S.A. The Spirit of Apollo was shot between 2004 and 2011 in locations throughout the United States and spanning the globe in countries including Brazil, Jamaica and Sweden.

N.A.S.A. The Spirit of Apollo has previously screened at film festivals including One Dot Zero in London, Animac and CCCB in Spain, Flux at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, the Creators Project in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Noise Pop in San Francisco along with SOHO House in Los Angeles and New York.

Stays tuned in the coming weeks as a series of teaser clips from the film are unveiled.
