Ex-AFL players Daniel Harford, Scott Lucas, Mark McVeigh and Leigh Colbert made their way down to the G this morning for a game played across two custom-made Carlton Draught Footy Tables. Shaped like the MCG, the Footy Tables are like foosball, but in proper AFL style.

The Footy Tables are one of three limited edition, footy-style prizes that are up for grabs as part of the ‘Footy Rules’ promotion. Also to be won are AFL-style dartboards and footy-shaped speakers. Over 2,000 prizes will be given away throughout the campaign.

The Footy Rules campaign is designed to fully leverage Carlton Draught’s partnership with the AFL to drive consumers into pubs and bottle shops across the country to celebrate the season return. Carlton Draught are delivering and assembling close to 1,200 Footy Tables in pubs and bottle shops nationwide over an eight day blitz. On average, a table will be delivered to a CUB customer every three and a half minutes. It is anticipated that more than 100,000 kilometres will be clocked up by couriers delivering these prizes during the campaign. There will also be a dedicated distribution centre set up to coordinate the national delivery, at its peak talking to almost 100 customers per hour.

Says Alastair McCausland, marketing manager for Carlton Draught: “‘Footy Rules’ is a cracking promotion that celebrates our partnership with the AFL in a way that’s true to Carlton Draught, reminding us not to take ourselves too seriously. The promotion also gives us an opportunity to support the publicans and bottle shop owners that champion Carlton Draught every day.”

The promotion will be supported with an above the line campaign that includes a new television commercial, radio spots and print ads. The promotion will also be supported through social media channels, public relations, in-venue point of sale and table displays in venues across the country.

The promotion runs from 18 February to 14 April.
