M&C Saatchi, Melbourne creative director Doogie Chapman is set to depart the agency to take a break from the industry.
Chapman, who has been at the agency for nearly seven years, has been CD since August 2010 following the controversial departure of former CD Steve Crawford and MD David Brown to set up their own shop later that year backed by DDB.
An M&C Saatchi spokesperson told CB that Chapman’s replacement should be found soon.

I wish you all the very best mate.
Andy
A picture is worth a 1000 words?
Best of luck, mate.
All the best Doogie.
I think they paid a little less than a 1000 words for that picture.
That’s the end of M&C in Melbourne.
Steve, what is wrong with you and a whole bunch of Melbourne industry people who seem to delight in the demise of agencies in our town?
I couldn’t believe those who seem to glory in mojo’s problems or the exit of FCB.
We need a healthy vibrant industry with all of us sharing in each others success.
An industry with exciting start ups and new thinking.
Not one dominated by 2or3 big shops.
It saddens me as one who has been around Melbourne for a while to see this happening.
Frankly if it continues Darren Wooley’s dire prediction of us becoming the new Adelaide could be depressingly accurate.
This guy has fought a long, hard battle and sacrificed a great deal. I’m sorry to hear this, but I hope the break does him good and that he comes back twice as strong.
Phil, wake up and smell the coffee. The ad industry is no different to Kodak. The once proud industry that used to galvanise behind disruption has been disrupted. We are all to blame for letting it happen. It’s only time before another 2 follow.
Thanks for your response Don.
Just one question why ,isn’t happening in Sydney?
Plenty of good local shops eg BWM/Monkeys among others.
Lots of start up creative consultancies eg Disciple.
International agencies making Sydney their home in the last year or so include RGA,Dentsu,Innoceawith Goodby not far off.
On the other hand I can’t think of one closure.
Sorry I think this is a Melbourne malaise
Which both worries and saddens me.
