Reporting to Richard McLaren, Mi9’s managing director of data and services, Parsons will be responsible for growing traffic volumes and shaping the audience experience through product interaction across multiple channels – devices, social media and aggregation platforms.

Says Parsons: “There is real market opportunity with Mi9 and I’m hugely excited by the chance to be part of its transformation at the forefront of digital media in Australia.

“I have been impressed by the dynamism of the people and its forward leaning view on the future of digital – it’s great to see how it is championing new ways to connect brands with audiences.”

Parsons brings rich experience to the role having worked across digital agencies and online start-ups since 1996. He joins Mi9 from entertainment company Quickflix where he helped drive the design and build of the company’s first-in-market cross-device IPTV platform, and where he continues to be involved in an advisory role.

Within the digital media space Parsons has also had the opportunity to work with major brands including Apple, McDonalds and Toyota, as well as start-up agency/accelerators Spike Wireless, Oven Digital and Pollenizer.

Says Richard McLaren, Mi9 managing director of data and services: “As our industry continues on the path to digital convergence, creating new products and experiences that engage users through contagious content across platforms will become more important than ever.

“Tim has a strong entrepreneurial flair with a passionate curiosity for Australia’s digital audience – combined with an established track record for creating and growing successful digital media businesses, we’re excited to see how he will bring the vision for Mi9’s media and product portfolio to life.”

Born in South Australia, Parsons spent many years in the UK where early in his career he wrote and presented BBC2 documentary ‘Cyberpunks & Technophobes’ (1993). He holds a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from London’s Imperial College (1999), and co-founded Mobile Monday Sydney (2005).
