An extremely humble and talented director Smith won a MTV short film competition whilst studying at Central St Martin’s School of Art and Design in London. He then left college to pursue a career in directing.

He has since gone on to direct numerous documentaries, commercials, short films and over seventy-five music videos for a range of artists, including Kylie Minogue, Manic Street Preachers, Pivot, Buffalo Tom, The Darkness, Juliette Lewis & the Licks, Peaches and Iggy Pop. He has been widely recognised for his work, receiving accolades from MVPA, CAD and MTV amongst others.

Perhaps one of his most notable pieces of work is the music video for the song ‘Yellow’ by Coldplay, a film which shot the band to stardom in the early years of their career.

Says Smith: “I am excited to join the roster at Revolver, I’ve long been a fan of their consistent and imaginative output.”

Says Michael Ritchie, managing director of Revolver: “Alex just looks at stuff differently to anyone else. Beyond that, he is a super nice guy. We are all really happy and excited he has come on board.”
