After 87 years at 285 Madison Avenue Y&R New York to move to 3 Columbus Circle this weekend
Campaign Brief was taken for an exclusive tour of the new headquarters of Y&R New York at 3 Columbus Circle overlooking Central Park by worldwide creative director Tony Granger.
After 87 years in the same building – which they owned and recently sold – the agency makes the big move from 285 Madison Avenue this weekend.
Says global CEO David Sable (below): “This is a historic day. But Madison Avenue is a state of mind, not a state of place. Today, the Northeast corner of 40th street and Madison Avenue is Young & Rubicam Way. And the 285 Marquee is coming with us and will adorn the café in our new space.
“Since 1926, we have been definers of the best of the innovation of Madison Avenue – creative leaders, business shapers, inventors, innovators. We look forward to continuing that innovative, entrepreneurial spirit by creating Madison Avenue West in a new state-of-the art work environment that has been designed to accommodate who we are and how we work in the epicenter of New York City, the greatest media town in the world.”
3 Columbus Circle will also be the new home of sister shops Wunderman, VML, Blast Radius, BrandBuzz, Bravo, Kang & Lee, KBM Group and ZAAZ.

sigh.
What uninspiring offices. Looks more like a bank than an agency. Obviously an “in-house” interior design job. Boring. Yawn.
A business moves offices, but wait, it’s a state of mind not a state of place. Only in advertising.
Great view!
I thought New York was a state of mind.
Worked there as a receptionist in 1967 and loved it. Every floor had its personality. My floor was the account executive floor, pretty bland but for the built in TV in lobby.
The art floor was always a blast as they loved using the lobby to express their art and personality. It was a blank slate and they took advantage of that.
