Andrew Mudgway1.jpgInitiative Melbourne is working with TEDxMelbourne to host a specially licensed event under the famous global networking and presentation franchise TED. Two high-profile speakers will present at the new Melbourne event set for tomorrow, April 17.

TED (technology, entertainment and design) was founded 25 years ago and is a global nonprofit organization devoted to its theme, Ideas Worth Spreading.

In the spirit of “ideas worth spreading,” TED has created TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. The event hosted by Initiative is called TEDxMelbourne, where x = an independently organized TED event. At TEDxMelbourne, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including TEDxMelbourne, are self-organised.

The two speakers for the TEDxMelbourne event are well known innovationist Roger LaSalle whose topic is “The nature of opportunities”. He will be followed by Google’s Brendan ‘Bob’ Forster, whose topic is “Moon Shot, aiming for the stars. The thinking required to get extraordinary things to happen.”

Says Jon Yeo, TEDxMelbourne curator: “TEDxMelbourne is excited to work with Initiative, a partner that clearly understands the value around innovation, thought leadership and big ideas.”

Initiative Melbourne managing director Andrew Mudgway (pictured) says the agency has aligned with TEDxMelbourne because of clear parallels between TEDxMelbourne’s primary themes and Initiative’s passion for being in touch with technology and thought leading trends.

Says Mudgway: “TEDxMelbourne means our clients and people can be more closely connected with some of the country’s leading thinkers and innovators. It also provides attendees with an inspirational forum to freely exchange and discuss ideas.”

The private, invitation only TEDxMelbourne event is on tomorrow April 17 and will be held at the Initiative offices on St Kilda Road.
