The Leo Burnett team won back the Ping-Pong By Noise trophy and took home $1,500 in cash, while DDB came in second, and Havas were runners up.

Sitting comfortably in second place behind Havas Worldwide for most of the night, the Leo Burnett team made their way into the semi finals along with Havas Worldwide, DDB and BMF.

In an unexpected turn, the semis saw DDB steal a finals position from front runners Havas, leaving them to duke it out with BMF for third place.

Says Joe Kennedy of Leo Burnett: “It’s an incredible honour. A top night and a blistering reminder that ping-pong is alive and well in adland. We’ll be back next time to complete the hat-trick!!”

Noise PP First Pics-5607.jpgPing-pong enthusiasm was high on the night with great sportsmanship on display and some overwhelming vocal support from spectators.

VML Australia won best dressed on the night, wearing sweatbands and matching shirts emblazoned with their pong aliases.

Says creative director at Noise, Bruce Heald: “We saw some amazing skill this year but the best part of the nights was undoubtedly just watching everyone kick back and have fun. Some of the cheer squads had pom poms and another had made up a team song. That enthusiasm is what makes the events great.”

The Catering Department’s pulled pork sliders and chocolate truffles kept the players’ carb loaded throughout the night while it was reported that 28Black and 4 Pines beer were being drunk in tandem, supposedly to cancel out the effects of the other.

It should be noted that the team putting this theory into practice did not place in the top three.
