“Since going freelance about 8 months ago, I’ve been mulling over the idea of setting up my own grading facility again. I came to the conclusion that the best way forward was to set it up within an existing post house because of the synergies that would exist between the two companies. My first port of call was Fin Design as I’ve known the team there for years and have a high regard for their work.

“I put the idea to Emma and it was a pretty short conversation. She’d just taken possession of a second building so the timing couldn’t have been better.

“It was agreed that I would set up my own company within Fin’s new building and run it independently, but we’d have a technological connection so that we could collaborate seamlessly when required. If any clients require additional 3d, 2d, design or flame work, the option is there to package up the post if desired.”

Eagleton is a multiple award winning colourist who has built an enviable reputation and client following throughout Europe, Asia, USA and Australasia. Best known for his commercial and music video work, he has also graded three feature films, plus numerous short films and documentaries. Ben brings a creative vision to his work and combined with a natural ability to work quickly and collaboratively, he consistently produces beautiful and memorable work.

Eagleton expects to be open for business around the beginning of June.

Says Eagleton: “I’m delighted to been running my own facility again and to have things set up exactly the way I want them and I’m equally delighted to be doing it alongside a company like Fin.

“Cost is obviously an important part of the equation when building a grading suite, however my primary concern has always been that I should be using the right equipment, not just the cheapest. As a consequence, I chose to use the latest Baselight system as the hub of the suite. It’s easily the most sophisticated, flexible and best integrated device out there, providing me with the time and scope during grading sessions to explore any creative impulse that I, or my clients have.

“I’ve combined the Baselight with the latest monitoring technology and designed the suite to provide an ideal environment in which to work. Of all the suites I’ve designed over the years, this is the one that I’m most pleased with.

“I’m very optimistic about the future.”

Says Emma Daines, Fin managing director / executive producer: “Ben’s esteemed reputation and unique offering as a colorist, felt like the perfect compliment to what we already have available at Fin.”
